it is 3:45 am
flashing lights outside my
window
cherry red and berry blue
spinning on a blurry bar
ambulance and firetruck
casting tinted shadows
through the window shade
short bursts of sound
the blurting of sirens
like great birds
chirping in the night
mornings across the street
from the nursing home
Kitty jumps from the window
where she was perched
looking for creatures
moving in the red and blue
light
cotton tailed rabbit
slender fox…bushy raccoon
