On this day in the year 1765 of the common era (CE), Frisia bans Voltaire's book Traité sur la tolerance, A Treatise on Tolerance in which he called for religious toleration and targeted religious fanaticism as an affront to humanism, with special attention being given to the pernicious and socially destructive work of the Jesuits.
