On this day in the year 1882 of the common era (CE), Richard Wagner completes his final opera Parsifal, a knight of the Round Table, who together with Sir Galahad and Sir Bors completed the quest for the Holy Grail, the Celtic and Teutonic imagery set in its mythological landscape were put to evil use by Nazi propagandists in the mid twentieth century.

On this day in the year 1928 CE the Swedish-American inventor E.F.W. Alexanderson, of General Electric, demonstrates the first television receiver at Proctors Theatre in Schenectady, New York; one year later the Humanist Society is established in Hollywood, California, and in the following year the first Mickey Mouse comic strip appears.
